Welcome to Early Years at BPS
At the Bilingual Primary School we aim to foster a love of language through our exciting model of learning in English and Spanish. This journey begins on the children’s first day in Reception when they begin to learn Spanish as it is embedded into our daily routines. Half of our Early Years Curriculum is taught in Spanish and half in English.
Running through our daily practice in Reception is the principle of learning through play. We believe this is the best way for young children to learn. We offer many open-ended learning experiences, and our day includes extended periods of uninterrupted play, guided by our expert practitioners, so that children can become engrossed in their own learning. We provide a rich, enabling indoor and outdoor learning environment, which promotes curiosity, independence and a love of learning.
Our pioneering bilingual curriculum is designed to give children the knowledge and understanding needed to prepare them for year 1 and beyond. This is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework and ‘Development Matters’ guidance, along with children’s interests and developmental needs, and the unique context of our school.
