Educational Visits Programme

School Trips

At BPS, our Educational Visits Programme is carefully planned to broaden and enhance both the learning and social experience of our pupils. School visits enable children to get out into the world around them and experience it first-hand, helping children to develop their risk awareness and preparing them for the next steps in their education. Every visit has a clear learning objective and is closely linked to the curriculum and learning surrounding that particular topic. Our aim is for children to gain a great deal from these visits, including collaborative skills, independence and, especially for the younger ones, the confidence to venture out into the world without parents/carers. Children in Year 6 also get the chance to take part in a residential visit, which for some is their first experience of being away from home. Our Educational Visits Programme then culminates in a 5-day trip to Madrid, where our Year Six children get the opportunity to apply their Spanish learning in meaningful and purposeful contexts, whilst also getting the chance to visit one of our partner schools to experience a day at a Spanish school.

Here is a list of the visits planned for this academic year:

Visitors in school

Alongside school trips, we also enhance our curriculum through inviting a broad range of guest visitors into BPS. This can take different forms, such as in-person assemblies, online assemblies, interactive workshops or interviews. For example, in the past year, we have had multiple author visits, flamenco workshops, Herstmonceux Planetarium, Zoo Lab, different local religious leaders, to name just a few of the visitors coming into school.

Performances and Sporting Events Programme

Alongside our Educational Visits, at BPS, we ensure children have the opportunity to partake in a range of different experiences that extend beyond the academic. Our Performances and Sporting Events Programme is designed to build year-on-year, providing different contexts for children to develop resilience, confidence, team work and independence. Our aim is that that our performances showcase the bilingual learning that takes plce at BPS.
